Coffee of the Month for March is Guatemala Jaceltenango
This coffee has been a favourite at Birds and Beans for about 20 years! It is consistently excellent with a flavour profile of dark chocolate, caramelized sugar (sponge toffee), and berry fruit like raspberry. Brew it medium, full strength or even espresso. As soon as you grind it the wonderful aromas will fill your home or workplace. Subscribers save 10% on all coffee!
US IEEPA Tariffs Declared Illegal by US Supreme Court
What does it mean for Coffee?
As you probably know, the tariffs imposed by the US administration under IEEPA have been declared illegal by the US Supreme Court. There is, however, no indication that the administration intends to refund the illegally collected tariffs.
In response to the ruling, the US Executive Office is imposing a 10% surcharge on everything imported to the US for 150 days. Green Coffee is explicitly excluded.
It is all so confusing! This is the best summary of the matter that I have seen anywhere.
Anyway, at the moment, the relationships we have built over 25 years with our Certified Bird Friendly importers live another day. …What a mess!
Thanks for supporting us and other small Canadian owned businesses!
